- Directly on the steep coast lies the park Praia di Fuoco ("Beach of Fire").
On the Capo Vaticano the visitor finds in perfect manner what has made Calabria famous both within and outside of Italy: emerald-green, shimmering sea, picturesque sandy beach bays and a breathtaking panorama. On a stone ledge of the world-famous steep coast, the park Praia di Fuoco, meaning "Beach of Fire", is located.
Here the proprietor has built on an ample property (ca. 26.000 m²) ten small, separated holiday houses, being careful to maintain the intimacy of the guests as well as the authenticity of the terrain. From the paths across the rocks, accessible to guests of the park only, the view drifts all the way to the Islands of Lipari and Sicily. Down a steep incline, well-secured steps (attention: only suited for good walkers!) lead down to the private sandy beach belonging to the park (for external guests only accessible by boat). From here you may hike to other marvel beaches, otherwise accessible by boat only. Children find a lot of space to play on the fenced property.
Each one of the holiday houses is individually designed and fits harmonically into the park, dominated by eucalyptus trees and cactuses. In terms of architecture, the traditional local style of construction has been kept to, which gives testimony of the ever-changing history of Calabria with centuries of foreign rule.
The houses chosen by us, Capri, Filicudi (max. 6 persons), Stromboli (max. 7 guests) and Lipari (max 8 persons), are similarly laid-out. They both offer spacious exterior areas with sea view (holiday home Lipari (limited view). With a breakfast on the terrace of the holiday home (Capri, Stromboli) or in the roofed dining area of the house (Filicudi, Lipari) you get in the mood for the upcoming day of your holiday.
Over the terrace or the roofed dining area, respectively, you enter the interior of the house. The holiday homes are simply, but functionally furnished and continue the owner’s wish for naturalness on the inside. In the generous living/dining area you may make yourself comfortable on the sofa (also sleeps two people) and enjoy your meals at the wooden dining table. The small kitchen comes with a practical service hatch to the dining place, as well as access to the exterior of the house, which also provides for an outdoor shower.
The bathroom in the holiday homes (shower, bidet and WC) you enter from a corridor, as well as the kitchen and the two bedrooms. The olive wood, typical for Southern Italy, is dominating in the double bedroom of both houses. In the holiday home Stromboli you additionally find a room with three single beds, in the houses Capri Filicudi and Lipari the second bedroom offers space for two people. Aditionally house Lipari has got a third bedroom at its disposal - in an outbuilding connected by a small wooden bridge.
Despite the location directly on the steep coast, you do not have to do without the benefits of the “civilized world” during your holiday in the Praia di Fuoco park: You may park your car on the fenced property. After a walk of only ca. 300 m you reach the nearest supermarket and a ristorante-pizzeria. Tropea, with its beautiful historic centre and impressive history is only a couple of minutes’ drive away.
Anybody who wants to spend a marvellous seaside holiday away from the nuisance of mass tourism, in harmony with nature, will feel at home in the “Praia di Fuoco” park!

Prices per week are valid for the number of persons given in brackets including final cleaning.
Upon request, bed linens and towels will be provided at an extra of 7 Euro per person per week (please mention on the booking form!).
* For the 6th person in the houses Capri and Filicudi and the 7th and 8th person in the houses Stromboli and Lipari, an additional amount will be charged per week depending on the season (no surcharge in August!). Please enquire!
