Train connections to Tropea are quite good. A train journey from Munich (Germany) to Tropea, for example, takes about 20 hours (2-3 train switches necessary). By car:

You drive to Bologna and via Florence, Rome and Naples on the highway A3 “Salerno-Reggio Calabria” until the exit at Pizzo Calabro, then continue on the coastal road S.S.522 until you reach Tropea.

By airplane:

The nearest airport is located in Lamezia Terme (ca. 60 km from Tropea). It is flown to by Alitalia airlines and Air Berlin for example. A little further away lies the airport of Reggio Calabria (ca. 105 km from Tropea).
