Excursion to the Lipari Islands

The Lipari Islands, also known as the Aeolian Islands, are one of the most fascinating archipelagos in the Mediterranean Sea. From the west coast of Calabria, on clear days, they seem to be just within reach.

The seven inhabited islands Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli and Vulcano are of volcanic origin, but each has its very own character. Stromboli is even Europe’s most active volcano. On average, it erupts several times per hour and during the night you see its fire from afar. Alexander von Humboldt called it the lighthouse of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The islands are definitely worth a visit, as the archipelago, which has been inhabited for 6,000 years, has a lot to offer from historico-cultural and culinary points of view, too.

It might be interesting to book one of the day trips by speed boat which are offered during the summer months and depart from Cetraro, Vibo Marina, Briatico, Tropea and Scilla.

We arrange for holiday accommodations with a view of the islands on the Calabrian coast. So do take a boat trip to those fascinating islands while staying at one of the accommodations we arrange for at Capo Vaticano.

You will definitely be thrilled!
