The Lipari or Aeolian Islands are one of the most fascinating archipelagos in the Mediterranean Sea.
From the west coast of Calabria, on clear days, they seem to be just within reach.
The seven inhabited islands Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli and Vulcano are of volcanic origin, but each has its own character. Stromboli is even Europe’s most active volcano.
On average, it erupts several times per hour and during the night you see its fire from afar.
Alexander von Humboldt called it the lighthouse of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The islands are definitely worth a visit.
The archipelago which has been inhabited for 6000 years has a lot to offer from historico-cultural and culinary points of view, too.
It might be interesting to book one of the day trips by speed boat which are offered during the summer months from Cetraro, Vibo Marina, Briatico, Tropea and Scilla.
We do not only offer accommodations with a view of the islands at the Calabrian coast. On Lipari, there is also a lovely Bed & Breakfast, Villa Liberty.
